He has over 26 years of experience in domestic and international tax services, spanning the entire energy sector, including upstream, midstream, downstream, as well as mining and alternative energy. Abdon’s focus is on the energy sector, but he has extensive experience in other industries (i.e. technology, software, telecommunications, biotech and real estate). Abdon specializes in a full spectrum of tax services to both public and private sector companies. His experience includes global and domestic tax consulting, tax compliance, mergers and acquisitions, structuring, state and local tax consulting, alternative energy credits and incentives, tax controversies, tax accounting methods and preparation of Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740) including impacts of alternative energy flip structures, variable ownership structures, SOX 404 design & documentation for accounting for income tax projects.
Prior to joining Kroll, Abdon was CFO for a green hydrogen company, Vice President of Tax and Risk Management at one of the largest E&P MLP and institutional investment companies. Abdon’s other previous work experience includes public accounting at Andersen, PwC and KPMG, where he was Partner/Managing Director.
Abdon holds a BBA from Hays School of Business at East Texas Baptist University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
